A talk on type design by Jeremy Tankard
Jeremy has been involved with typefaces and lettering since graduating from the Royal College of Art in 1993. Initially he worked at Addison Design Consultants on the rebrand of Sabena Belgian Airlines, then moved to Wolff Olins where he worked on very early (pre-internet) interactive projects for British Telecom as well as the Heathrow Express brand identity and typefaces for BAA.
He left Wolff Olins in 1997 to establish Jeremy Tankard Typography and to focus purely on type design. He has worked on a variety of commissioned typefaces as well as creating typefaces for his own collection – available at typography.net. Each typeface Jeremy has worked on has addressed different criteria.
He intends to talk through a few projects with specific attention to their design and use for signing, branding, onscreen, legibility and readability.
