A talk and live webinar by Graham Hanson
6.30pm Thursday 3rd October 2013 at The Gallery
“The UK's road traffic signing system is recognised as one of the most effective in the world and much emulated by others. However, since its’ conception in the early 1960's, the way we use our roads and the number of vehicles on them together with how they are regulated has changed very considerably.
Accordingly the last Government instituted a full review which has been the subject of extensive consultation by the DfT and Graham Hanson will set out the progress that the Department has made to policy since “Signing the Way” was published in 2011.
Graham will highlight the potential changes to the Traffic Signs Regulations and General Directions which will reduce prescription and provide more discretion and responsibility for the traffic sign designer. In particular, he will focus on the new approach to parking sign design and the Department’s work to reduce traffic sign clutter.”
Graham has over 25 years experience in traffic and transportation and is a Chartered Transport Planner. He has worked for the private sector, local authorities, regional Government and has been with the Department for Transport for 10 years. He is currently responsible for traffic sign policy, traffic regulation and Intelligent Transport Systems.
