An exhibition by Connie Flynn. A 2025 artist in residence at Norwich Printing Museum, Connie’s work explores the relationship between common phrases and the textiles industry.
The work is inspired by familiar phrases we use every day but do not always know where they actually originate from. After much research, she found out that many of these phrases are related to the textile industry and textile mills. Connie has used repurposed domestic cloth and traditional white cotton garments to hand stitch the chosen phrases with contrasting red thread.
During Connie’s recent artist residency at the Norwich Printing Museum, she explored the traditional process of letterpress. These letterpress outcomes have been combined with the textile pieces to represent a sense of time, history and heritage.
