Wayfinding projects are not constrained by creativity, they are constrained by coordination. This talk with Alex Syniukov and Vladimir Siniukov explores how smarter ways of working can unlock greater freedom of design.

Architects, designers, and consultants operate across multiple tools, with spreadsheets acting as the default bridge between disciplines. As projects evolve, information becomes fragmented. Sign schedules, location plans, and message sets drift out of sync, requiring constant manual updates and introducing risk at every stage.

Instead of treating wayfinding as a collection of static deliverables, we present it as a dynamic system. We demonstrate how paths, destinations, and signs can be connected within a single model, allowing changes to propagate instantly and consistently across the entire project. The result is not simply efficiency. It is creative freedom.

By reducing the overhead of coordination, designers can focus on hierarchy, legibility, user journeys, and design intent. Iteration becomes faster and safer, and teams gain confidence that their decisions are reflected accurately across all outputs. This is not about automation replacing designers. It is about removing friction so design can operate with greater clarity, control, and freedom.

The talk includes a live walkthrough of a typical workflow, from building a path network to generating and refining sign messages, showing how system-driven thinking enables a more agile and design-led process.”

About the speakers

Alex Siniukov is a designer with a background in architecture and branding, specialising in wayfinding and information design. With over a decade of experience working on complex built environments, he focuses on translating spatial logic into clear, coherent navigation systems. His work sits at the intersection of design, strategy, and coordination, with a particular interest in how tools and workflows shape the quality of design outcomes. Alex advocates for approaches that reduce manual overhead and enable designers to focus on intent, clarity, and user experience.

Vladimir Siniukov is a former Program Director and Senior Project Manager with more than 25 years of experience delivering large-scale telecom infrastructure projects across Europe. Driven by a long-standing passion for software development and problem-solving, he has recently moved into a new field, combining business leadership, engineering, and software development to address challenges beyond traditional industry boundaries. Today, he leads the development of Wayfinding Planner™, where he brings a fresh perspective to wayfinding and applies engineering thinking to strategy, process, and delivery.
