The Royal Botanic Garden Edinburgh is looking for an experienced evaluator to join its Learning & Engagement team and help consolidate existing data, write insightful reports, and collaborate with colleagues to build clear, user-friendly systems for evaluation.

The Learning & Engagement staff work in close partnership with audiences and collaborators to support people, plants, and the planet. Through sharing the work, resources and expertise of the Royal Botanic Garden Edinburgh, staff members foster nature connection and help participants grow their skills. With an extensive range of programmes reaching learners, visitors, and communities, a wealth of data is held that RBGE is keen to harness to better monitor, improve, and promote its impact.

2026 marks a milestone year, bringing the conclusion of a major five-year project funded by The National Lottery Heritage Fund (NLHF), alongside the development of new strategies for both the Royal Botanic Garden Edinburgh and the Learning & Engagement division.

This role involves producing a comprehensive evaluation report for the NLHF project – covering capital, interpretation, learning, and engagement strands – and designing a new framework of tools and processes informed by team feedback and project learnings.

The ideal candidate will bring strong research and reporting experience, excellent data and project management skills, and a structured, detail-oriented approach. Confident and collaborative, you’ll build positive relationships across the organisation, ensuring stakeholders have the insights they need to track progress and shape future work.

Fixed term until the end of March 2027, part-time (14 hours), based in Edinburgh. Salary £45,712 (£18,284.80 pro-rata), pay award pending plus civil service pension, generous holiday entitlement, and other benefits
