Jeff Jarvis introduces his new book, Hot Type: The Magnificent Machine That Gave Birth to Mass Media and Drove Mark Twain Mad, at a day of events co-hosted by The Historic New England Center and the Museum of Printing in Haverhill, Massachusetts.
Jarvis will discuss his book and how the Linotype typesetting machine upended 400 years of setting type by hand. After lunch, the event moves to the Museum of Printing, where Jarvis and the Museum of Printing’s own Linotype expert will demonstrate a working Linotype. Come for all or part of the event.
