Justine Curgenven is an adventurer, sea-kayaker and award-winning film-maker. She has planned expeditions, filmed sea-kayakers world-wide, and navigated many sea routes on outdoor adventures.
In 2001, she sent up Cackle TV to combine her love of sea-kayaking and outdoor adventure with her professional TV background. She pioneered a new genre of films – ‘This is the Sea’ series available from her website featuring sea kayaking expeditions from the most beautiful paddling destinations including New Zealand, Norway, Kamchatka, Ireland, Canada & the Bass Strait.
Justine’s films have won awards at the Banff, Kendal and Graz Film Festivals. Her aim, through her films is to bring a smile to faces and inspire us all to get outdoors into the sea spray!
Justine will be In Conversation with Dr Colette Jeffrey, Chair of the Outdoor Adventure Navigation Group, to discuss how they navigated across the Aleutian island chain that links USA and Alaska with Russia. We will also talk about other trips she has filmed and any navigation mistakes, the consequences and the learning for her next sea adventure.
