Synopsis

John Massengale and Victor Dover know how to fix America’s neighbourhoods, cities, and towns: make them walkable again. That begins with great streets where people want to be, streets that are comfortable, safe, interesting, and beautiful. This second edition looks at hundreds of streets old and new, shows us what works and what doesn’t, and reveals the secrets behind designing great streets and walkable places. Revised and expanded, now with full-colour images throughout, this indispensable and transformative guide, the only book of its kind.”

Review

“This book should be required reading in schools of urban design, architecture, and landscape architecture, and an understanding of it should be part of the licensing requirements for civil, traffic, and transportation engineers.”

Elizabeth Plater-Zyberk, DPZ coDESIGN, former Dean of the School of Architecture, University of Miami
