Welcome to the April newsletter of the Sign Design Society. We thought we’d take this opportunity to update you on how things are in the society.
Our big news is that after the success of last year’s symposium on the subject of designing inclusive wayfinding information, we plan to hold another symposium this year. As with last year, we plan to collaborate with SEGD on the event. But this year the symposium will be part of London Design Festival, in mid-September. We are planning to theme the symposium around the idea of ‘Designing Future Wayfinding’ looking at ideas that address how wayfinding design can help to shape a future that we want, including issues of sustainability in wayfinding design. We’ll be putting out a formal call for proposals shortly, but you can start thinking now about topics and case studies that you could present as part of the symposium. We’re looking forward to the event being as social and thought provoking as last year’s symposium.
In other news, the Sign Design society continues to progress. Our monthly seminars continue to be a diverse mix of topics and viewpoints. If you have any topics or case studies that you’d like to present at one of these seminars – any projects that you’re particularly proud of or topics that you like to share with us – then please get in touch, we are always happy to hear your suggestions and ideas for our events. Remember that members can access our library of past talks on our website. There’s quite a library now. And if you’d like to be involved in steering the society, we’d also love to hear from you.
