A rare opportunity to join the Chatsworth Learning & Engagement team, in a role where you’ll facilitate the creation of interpretation with engaging content that brings centuries of history to life for visitors of all ages and backgrounds across Chatsworth.

What you’ll be doing:

Working to tight deadlines on various projects, you’ll create and oversee interpretation across multiple formats – from traditional displays to cutting-edge digital experiences, all linked to temporary/seasonal changing exhibitions and displays in the House, Garden and Farmyard – as well as contributing to, and updating, the longer-term interpretation provided to support high quality visitor engagement ensuring every piece of content reflects Chatsworth’s excellence.  

In this role you will:

The role coincides with the delivery phase of a National Lottery Heritage Fund project, Celebrating the Cascade, and this post is the lead contact with interpretation consultants who have been appointed to work on this.

About you:

This role is suited to anyone with a passion for telling stories about art, history, heritage, landscape, and environment.  You will be an interpretation professional, able to communicate in a clear, accessible and inclusive way and with a strong working knowledge of latest developments and thinking in heritage interpretation. A degree in heritage, arts, history, horticulture or environment, and/or relevant demonstrable experience is essential.

An understanding of visitor needs and engagement barriers along with multi-modal approaches to interpretation is vital to this role. The ability to write clear and engaging texts and scripts for display and online content is also required, as are excellent research, editing and proof-reading skills.
You will be experienced in using Adobe InDesign, Photoshop and Illustrator to be able to assist with the development of digital media.  You’ll be highly organised to manage an interpretation schedule and supervising of freelancers and contractors.
