Navigators of the Marshall Islands share an incredible ability to find their way 100s of km over open ocean canoe voyages without GPS, compass or charts. In this webinar Joseph Genz (University of Hawai’i at Hilo) presents his anthropological work exploring the traditional knowledge of navigation in the Marshall Islands. Hugo Spiers (University College London) then discusses his new collaboration with Prof Genz bringing psychological and neuroscience methods to understand the navigation process.
