As we spend most of our time inside buildings, whether our home, office, classroom, or health setting, it is surprising we know little about the impact of our surroundings. Isabella Bower’s research explores how neurophysiological data can be used to understand the role of interior design characteristics (like room scale and colour) on brain processes such as working memory and emotion regulation. This to raise awareness and build an evidence base for designing with the intended psychological needs in mind.
