Have you ever looked at your surroundings and wondered why so much of it looks the same? Many of the places that surround us were designed by committee with only shareholders in mind. But sometimes it happens differently. And when it does, those places feel great. We want to come back to them again and again. That’s because those places were built with purpose. Our October 2019 event saw Simon Yewdall (dn&co.) talked about place branding, what it is, and why it is needed. He shared some insights into dn&co.’s work for Digbeth in Birmingham, the Royal Docks in London and St James’s. He explained what good place branding looks like, setting out the emotional and economic reasons the world of brand can help places change their perception.
