Some SDS members may have been fortunate to be amongst the 350 people who had the opportunity to attend one of the series of pioneering ThinkStation workshops held in recent months across the UK. Run by the Design Council in partnership with Network Rail, the initiative was established to encourage community groups, industry experts and others with an interest in rail to help shape future railway station design.
A special event was held on 28th January 2020 to mark their culmination. The findings briefly summarised:
“Design must be the golden thread running through the planning and development of all UK infra-structure.”
The Design Council will be using ThinkStation feedback to inform recommendations for the brief of an international station design competition that will launch later this year. Check the Design Council website for more information.
