Project Name: Historic Royal Palaces, Tower of London

Client: Historic Royal Palaces

Sector: Visitor attractions

Location: London, England

The role: Signage, wayfinding and mapping

The brief: ABG Design developed the Tower Environs wayfinding and signage master plan in close partnership with Stanton Williams Architects and the Historic Royal Palaces project team.

Some of the project aims were to have clear sight lines and new landscaping and paths to make the key entry points far more inviting and clear. We also worked with the team on identifying new ticketing office graphics and new electronic pricing totems.

Outcome: The signage scheme gives visitors clear direction around the site using custom drawn typefaces, visitor route icons to highlight specific ‘must-see’ destinations, and a bespoke pictogram family designed by ABG Design to exceed the legal requirements of the UK Disability Discrimination Act.

In key site locations, communication is provided in multiple languages to assist international visitors. This also let to a new Tower of London Map that we produced in a number of languages.
